Knee Decompression Therapy

KNEE ON TRAC – DESIGNED TO TREAT CHRONIC KNEE PAIN

THE LATEST IN NON-INVASIVE MECHANICAL TREATMENT FOR CHRONIC KNEE PAIN.

At Integrated Physical Medicine, we are proud to be one of the only offices in the Torrance and South Bay Los Angeles area to offer KNEE DECOMPRESSION THERAPY utilizing the KNEE ON TRAC SYSTEM

The Knee On Trac system is a non-invasive knee pain therapy that offers a revolutionary solution for those that live with chronic knee pain. It works by isolating the knee and offering safe and effective mechanical traction to decrease pain by:

  • Decreasing Inflammation
  • Allowing re-hydration
  • Increasing range of motion
  • Speeding up the healing process

KNEE ON TRAC IS BENEFICIAL FOR:

  • Chronic Knee Pain
  • Osteoarthritis (Bone on Bone)
  • Kneecap pain
  • ACL Injuries
  • Meniscus Tears
  • Failed Surgery
  • Sub-acute Muscle Strain
  • Chronic Muscle Strain
  • Previous Injury

MECHANICAL TRACTION – RESEARCH STUDIES

Studies show that mechanical traction was more effective in decreasing pain and improving quality of life than using conventional methods alone.

The studies also investigated the reduction of symptoms after mechanical traction alone with conventional therapy.  The results were shown to have significant improvement!

Q&A

What Is The Knee-On-Trac Decompression Therapy System?

For knee decompression, we use the patented Knee on Trac system to gently traction or separate the knee joint in order to reduce pain, increase function, and promote tissue healing. It is a non-surgical, non-invasive, and gentle treatment that takes only several minutes to perform.

How Does Knee On Trac Decompression Therapy Work?

By using a gentle method, we separate the joint space between the bottom of the femur (thigh bone) and the top of the tibia (shin bone). This causes a vacuum effect inside the knee joint, which brings more nutrient-rich fluid to the area.

The device will also stretch the adhesions (scar tissue) within the tendons, ligaments, and other soft tissue around the joint. The combined effect can possibly help re-establish some of the natural joint space and cushioning in the knee.

Current research has proven that traction therapy can increase bone growth, improve blood supply, and increase joint mobility.

The treatment will decrease or resolve pain, increase normal function and joint motion, and promote soft tissue healing.

What Types Of Problems Respond Well To Knee Decompression?

  • Knee joint degeneration
  • Arthritis
  • Meniscus tears
  • Sprains/strains older than 6 weeks
  • Osteochondritis dissecans

What Health Improvements Does Knee Decompression Therapy Bring?

  • Reduction of pain
  • Increased joint mobility
  • Increased joint function
  • Enhanced cartilage repair

Are There Any Side Effects?

Some patients experience mild soreness after the first few decompression treatments if the phase of degeneration in the knee joint is very advanced or lots of scar tissue is present.

What Should I Expect During a Treatment Session?

Each knee decompression therapy session may be 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the patient’s problem and diagnosis. The patient is seated, with their leg extended at a comfortable angle. A strap is used over the upper part of the thigh just above the knee cap, and an inflatable cuff is used just below the knee to secure the leg.

Our assistants will then set the Knee on Trac equipment with the appropriate program depending on your issues. You will then feel a mild separation of the knee joint.

What Can I Expect After The Treatment?

Most patients see positive results in the first couple of treatments. Your treatment will often be combined with other therapies designed to produce the fastest and most complete recovery possible for your individual condition. The number of knee decompression treatments necessary will depend on the severity of your condition and personal treatment goals.

What Are The Main Benefits Of Knee Decompression Therapy?

There are several conditions that can be successfully addressed with this therapy. By reducing inflammation and swelling throughout the knee, knee decompression helps treat general knee pain, runner's knee, tendonitis, arthritis, knee degeneration, sprains, or patellar pain.

We’ve also had great results when using knee decompression therapy on patients looking for a non-surgical treatment for sports injuries or the it-band syndrome.
